Adorned With Wisdom: A Devotional for Women of Faith Who Lead in Life and Work

I have always loved a bold, beautiful necklace—the kind that instantly elevates an outfit from ordinary to intentional. A statement piece has a way of pulling everything together with quiet elegance. It doesn’t shout; it steadies, frames, and completes. I’ve found them in boutiques, chain stores, and even thrift shops. Each one carries its own presence.

The other morning, as I settled into devotion, I noticed tension sitting heavy in my body. Nothing dramatic—just the quiet weight leaders often carry without realizing it. So I began to pray, releasing to God the concerns I had collected but never surrendered from the day before. In that gentle place, the Spirit brought me to Matthew 11:28–30, reminding me that the “yoke” Jesus offers is not a burden but an exchange—His wisdom for my worry, His steadiness for my strain.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” - Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)

As I studied, something beautiful came alive: the wisdom Scripture speaks of is not abstract insight but Christ Himself—the same Wisdom who was with God in the beginning, the same Wisdom described as a graceful adornment in Proverbs 1:9 and 3:22. Wisdom is not loud, gaudy, or heavy. It is a grace piece—worn close to the heart, giving inward strength and outward dignity.

“They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.” - Proverbs 1:9 (NIV)

“They will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck.” - Proverbs 3:22 (NIV)

For women who lead—in boardrooms, classrooms, clinics, communities, and homes—this is more than poetic imagery. It is daily guidance.

Before we step into decisions, conversations, and responsibilities that pull on our minds and stretch our hearts, we are invited to adorn ourselves with Wisdom. To wear Christ as the defining piece of our day. To let His gentleness shape our leadership, His humility anchor our confidence, and His rest steady our pace.

So today, as you choose your accessories and prepare your heart for the work entrusted to you, pause and put on Wisdom. Let Christ be the adornment that frames your thoughts, calms your spirit, and guides every step. His yoke will steer you. His grace will steady you. And His presence will honor you.

Be well, friend!
