Lamenting What You Didn’t Do in 2025? You’re Not Alone.

If you spent the last few weeks of December wondering where 2025 went and lamenting what you didn’t accomplish, you’re not alone. Maybe you had plans to launch something new, shift careers, write the book, set boundaries, or finally feel "balanced."

And now here we are at the start of a new year. Everyone seems to be sprinting into 2026 with vision boards, goals, and color-coded plans. But instead of feeling inspired, you feel... tired, behind, overwhelmed. Maybe you’re wondering how to dream big again when last year didn’t go how you thought it would.

If that’s where you are, take a breath and a moment to refresh your heart and mind. Because your ability to make progress in 2026 doesn’t come from how well you did in 2025 or how perfectly you map out the next year – it comes from trusting the Author of tomorrow.

Here are a few ways to prepare your heart for the year ahead:

1. Rewrite the Story

Instead of replaying what didn’t happen in 2025, ask yourself: What did I learn? Where did I grow? What did God carry me through? Success isn’t always visible, and growth isn’t always measurable. You may have accomplished more than you think, just not in the ways you planned.

2. Pray for Alignment, Not Achievement

Before you write one resolution, pause and pray: "God, what are You building in me this year?" It’s a simple shift that moves you from striving to surrender. The best goals are the ones born in stillness, not stress.

3. Choose One Word or Phrase

Instead of ten goals, try choosing one guiding word or phrase for the year. Something to anchor your decisions and intentions. Maybe it’s "rooted" or "faith over fear" or "steady." Let that word or phrase be a quiet compass as you walk into each day, week and month.

4. Break the Big Vision Into Small Wins

Don’t try to fix everything at once. That pressure to "start strong" can leave you feeling overwhelmed and giving up before January even ends. Instead, pick one small commitment you can carry into the next 30 days – morning journaling, one day a week with zero technology, 30 minutes of exercise a day, etc. Your confidence grows when you keep promises to yourself and those small steps add up.

Remember, friend, God isn’t asking you to have it all figured out. He calls you to trust in Him and take the next step in faith. If you feel Him calling you to more this year, I’d love to walk alongside you and provide faith-based strategies that build your confidence and enhance your clarity. Happy New Year!
